The Power of Agreement
Matthew 18:19-20
Matthew 18:19 NIV
"Again, I tell you that if two of you on earth agree (sumphoneo) about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by My Father in heaven.
1st Agreement takes time and effort
Matthew 18:19
"Again, I tell you that if two of you on earth agree”
Acts 2:1 ESV
When the day of Pentecost arrived, they were all together in one place.
2nd Agreement brings God’s power
Acts 2:1-4 ESV
When the day of Pentecost arrived, they were all together in one place. And suddenly there came from heaven a sound like a mighty rushing wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting. And divided tongues as of fire appeared to them and rested on each one of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance.
1. The glory of God came down
Acts 2:2-3
And suddenly there came from heaven a sound like a mighty rushing wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting. And divided tongues as of fire appeared to them and rested on each one of them.
2. They were filled with the Spirit
Acts 2:4 ESV
And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance.
3rd Agreement is the point of blessing
Psalm 133:1-3 NIV
How good and pleasant it is when brothers live together in unity! It is like precious oil poured on the head, running down on the beard, running down on Aaron's beard, down upon the collar of his robes. It is as if the dew of Hermon were falling on Mount Zion. For there the LORD bestows His blessing, even life forevermore.
Matthew 18:19 NIV
"Again, I tell you that if two of you on earth agree (sumphoneo) about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven.
4th Agreement is the place of God’s presence
Matthew 18:20 NIV
For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them." (together=sunago//synagogue=sunagoge)
1 Corinthans 10:16 NIV
Is not the cup of thanksgiving for which we give thanks a participation in the blood of Christ? And is not the bread that we break a participation in the body of Christ?
